What's the Doomed Dollar Play?

With the end f the year approaching, it's time for me to rebalance my portfolio. This year I find myself in a pickle. We have a market that has outpaced fundamentals and a huge fiscal cliff overhang.

My thoughts on the USA are not positive. We have a group of politicians in charge who want nothing but to spend, they leverage media pressure into making republicans cave into their demands, in exchange for 'future' tax cuts (just see the 2011 debt ceiling debate). This country has a systemic problem with its government, and mob rule will never vote anyone into power who will fix this, in my opinion.

Layer on a market which is denominated in a currency which I do not believe anyone can place a true value in (the dollar), and I'm left scratching my head as to what to buy.

Gold has come pretty far, but maybe its still in play? What are the Monkeys on WSO doing?
