what's the most embarrassing thing you've said on a call?

Monkeys,

Thought it was time to share again the best and worst moments you've had networking, interviewing, etc. I'll go first:

45 minute fit interview with a small consulting firm. Was asked how I engage people over the phone through my fundraising role towards the end.

Had been talking for some time now so I'm a bit tired - no clue how this slipped out:

"It's really all about how you engage them. I like to read up really quickly about about their backgrounds to find anything in common. Then I dial the phone and reel them in with a good hooker...uh"

Dead silence for two seconds before I stumble and try to rephrase it into hooking their attention. Pure cringe on the side of the interviewer - had never seen someone twist their face and bite their lip so hard before.

Waiting on the final round callback as of now.

Was on a call with an MD and a target company and the CEO of the target referenced some Ted Talk type thing MD gave 10 years ago. MD makes some joke to the effect of “Oh wow you were really digging deep on me” and I, without thinking, blurt out “He’s just glad you didn’t find his OnlyFans account”

I like to think in a social context people would have found this funny, but instead it was just a good 5-10 seconds of awkward silence.
