What's the problem with pay?
I feel a total disconnect between what I think people earn and the salaries I see posted. For example, I just came across a post for a Risk Analyst at an "International Bank" in NYC. 3+ yrs of banking experience required (I think this just means working middle office at a bank), BA/BS in maths/stats, and CFA/FRM preferred. Salary: $55k. The job was posted on efinancialcareers.com.
This just seems to me to be extremely low. But in general I am shocked at salaries these days. Is it just me?
Forgive me if this comes off as dumb, but when I see Risk Anaylst, my initial thoughts are MO/BO work, and thus Im not too surprised at the salary. Yes its low considering you need 3 yrs experience, but being a MO/BO would be significantly lower than FO work, no?

OP is entirely aware of the differences between FO and MO. But OP is just incredulous at pay these days. Not just this listing, but in general. OP cannot get FO.

yeah risk is middle office, and 55k is pretty close to market for middle office/back office roles. Not sure about the 3+ years part though, but then again its an online listing which are typically never right
Op how old are you implying. Im old too 31. As such im condemned. Most likely exiting industry even Though just got in 2 yrs at bb ops and now realize even as an aspiring CFA that it might be to late. So im drinking a beer and ill buy an overpriced auto in a couple yrs (midlife crisis)
