What's there to do in NOLA??

This weekend will be the commencement of my brother's Bachelor party in New Orleans and we are in search of the must do things while there. I've received some input from several sources including the possibility of a Louisiana yard dog (gators) tour thing and of course the obligatory night out on Bourbon street. So, what else should I keep in mind to do and what do you think would be bachelor party compliant?

Thanks for your opinions!

You came to the right place.

First tip, plans will be broken because people will be hungover, or trashed for day drinking. Plan on a nice dinner Friday night, try to plan one for Saturday and you risk everyone just being hammered or too tired to go out after. This happens 100% of the time and I've been to bach parties there where the planner was too optimistic and nobody made the dinner on Saturday.

Restaurants to Book: Galatiore's, Antoine's, Commander's Palace, Couchon, Luke,

Eateries/Great but not nice dinner places: Napoleon House, Felix's/Acme(I prefer Felix's but whatever line is shorter), Central Grocery, Jaque Imos, Couchon Butcher, Domaisle's, Killer Po Boys, The Joint *Personally look up John Besh and book any of his restaurants, you can't go wrong. Also look up Donald Link

Drinks: Frozen Irish Coffee, where -Erin Rose (off Bourbon), THE BEST FROZEN IRISH COFFEE ever. Closed 10am-2pm ^I can't sell the above enough, took about 4 of the group here at 8am after Harrah's bender, I got maximum props from everyone! And then I earned their ire by ordereing everyone 3 shots of Tulmore Dew right after. Hurricaine/Purple Drink, where - Lafite's Hurricaine, where Pat O'Briens 190 Antifreeze, where Daiquiri shops all over Saczarec, where The Carousel Bar

To Do: -Gator tours are fun, depending on the group make sure it is an Airboat tour. -Frenchman Street, great bars, less touristy, great music. I suggest starting the night off here, nobody will want to make the trek there after several(dozen drinks) -Mule tour, i recommend getting one on Sunday and bringing your own daiquiri with you. - WWII museum is pretty cool, but don't hit it up if it's most people's first time there. - Antique stores on Royal, when you win it big at Harrah's buy a civil war rifle there.

Adult Times: -Rick's and Penthouse. Hustler gets an honorable mention for the 40 ft stripper pole.

Don't leave without getting a chargrilled oyster, po boy, muffaleta and Hurricaine.

While this isn't the biggest write up you can't go wrong with anything I've written.

*The answer to where you got your shoes. You got them on your feet.

** Don't be a hero and book a 6am flight home. There are plenty of 5pm flights, keep drinking and enjoy the city.

I'm from New Orleans. None of the things below are in the French Quarter, but they're all really fun. Try to do at least 1 or 2.

F&M's Patio Bar - Late night party bar. This place is a must for a bachelor party The Fly - Daytime drinking. Bring daiquiris from the drive thru place nearby The Columns Hotel - Pre/post dinner drinks Tchoup Yard - Post dinner drinks Miss Mae's - If you're out drinking til daylight, you can go here The Rusty Nail - Pre/post dinner drinks Bulldog Uptown - Daytime drinks The Saint - Late night party bar. Weird.

Shervin's list is good too

These are all great suggestions.. let me keep it simple and suggest the highlights from my weekend there.

Food: Mother's Sober Activity: French Quarter (i didn't love the ww2 museum) Random Activity: Bumping local bar way off the beaten path (find your own) Music: Preservation Jazz Hall !!MUST DO!! (it's just off Bourbon Street, get in line 75 minutes beforehand, then when you're done it's perfect drinking time, this was by far the coolest thing i did, don't miss it)

Alright, so a lot of this depends on where you're staying but for the French quarter everything worthwhile is pretty much already listed. Happy to answer more if you have any particular areas you're going to be in besides the FQ FQ Food - EAT New Orleans, Meauxbar for places under the radar. I think Antoine's, Galatoire's, etc. are decent if you have not been to New Orleans before, but there is definitely better food to be had. Drinks - Molly's at the Market (Irish Coffee), Arnaud's French 75 Etc - Cafe Du Monde for beignets when you're bombed

Magazine / Uptown Food (Nicer) - Coquette, Lilette, Shaya, La Petite Grocery, Patois, Food (Casual) - Juan's Flying Burrito, Rum House, Dat Dog, Pizza Domenica Drinks - Bouligny Tavern, Bulldog, Balcony Bar, Ms. Mae's (a must; ask about the 24 hr. challenge if you want a mess)

I was in NOLA last year for a week and it was one of my favorite cities I've been to. Such a fun place to explore! I was with my girlfriend so I didn't do any of the "adult" fun, but odds are if you walk down Bourbon St you will see a couple strip clubs that would work for you.

I did do a Gator tour through I believe it was Cajun Encounters. It's about a 45 min bus ride out to the swamp and then you can do a little boat tour. It was super cool and would recommend it, but for a bachelor party you guys might be getting too turnt for it. Lots of kids and it's pretty hot. Bring water if you do.

Obviously you have to try the Beignets at Cafe du Monde. Can't miss those. The coffee there is really good too.

I did a Segway tour through the French Quarter, which might sound kind of lame, but if you can get a solid buzz on beforehand you would be surprised how fun it is whizzing around the streets on a Segway. It's only about an hour long so it wouldn't be too burdensome either.

I also highly recommend trying the Handgrenade drinks from whichever place it is that sells them on Bourbon Street. They're super strong and taste great.

Have fun!

One of them was a monument to celebrate the Battle of Liberty Place. This is a battle that was led by the Crescent City White League (lol) against an integrated police force and state militia. No members of the Crescent White League were arrested for the insurrection. From Wikipedia: "In 1932, inscriptions were added to the monument which attested to the battle's role in establishing white supremacy". Good riddance.

Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse is a great spot for a bachelor party dinner and it is directly across the street from the Penthouse Club. PH is the only high quality strip club we have here so don't waste your time and money anywhere else.

Courtyard at Pat O'Brien's is a great daydrinking spot. The piano bar can be a lot of fun later in the evening.

If you want to get out of the French Quarter for lunch one day grab an uber out to Brisbi's or Blue Crab on the Lakefront. Sit outside, get some seafood and a few beers.

If anybody in the group likes to gamble, don't forget about Harrah's down at the foot of Canal St.

Goldmine on St. Peter and Dauphine is where every bachelorette party ends up eventually.

Do the walking ghost tours. They are at night so it's a little less God awful weather wise. Also, most come with two free drink tickets for hurricanes. Let's be honest, you guys will be hungover so museums will be miserable.

There is also this bar called "The Dungeon". Don't even bother going before midnight. Basically if you are trying to get weird, go here.
