Blockchain technology has extreme merit, however the mere speculation that hit this market over the past 2 years has been crazy. The amount of speculation alone in 2017 boggles my mind and it is not surprising that the market has reached a level so low many thought was unreachable. Once kids and little boys get out of the crypto market and quit speculating/over-hyping, we might see a lift in the market sentiment.

As far as holding coins are concerned, I wouldn't be opposed to holding them if you truly believed in the crpyto technology. Unfortunately, most do not understand what they are buying and simple put forth capital into these coins because of FOMO (fear of missing out).

I agree, the bigger the gains, the bigger the FOMO. Problem is you should be "greedy when people are fearful and fearful when people are greedy" so to speak. But with this kind of market and speculation, not to mention the "undetermined intrinsic value" of the crypto and early stages of its technology, who knows where the top / bottom is.

One thing I agree is that the technology is over-hyped. And look at it this way, when the internet was booming so many people were gleamy-eyed and euphoric on how the world is gonna be changed by the internet. Nowadays we consider it a necessity of daily modern life but pretty much take it for granted. Of course there are internet tech companies that really soared like Amazon, FB, Google, etc. but most fell off the hype train.
