When practice cases become real life deals
This is not a question, but an observation.
A lot of people ask me if case interviews are based on real situations. And my answer is yes, that happens all the time - people interview based on real life experiences.
However, I found it quite amusing that a purely hypothetical case that existed for years, turned into a real deal recently.
I'm referring to the recent Burger King - Tim Hortons deal :

It instantly reminded me of the Great Burger and Heavenly Donuts practice case on the McKinsey Website: http://www.mckinsey.com/locations/Knowledge_Network/How_Do_I_Apply/Inte…
Just wanted to share this with you folks :)
Haha you're right! I have done that practice case a few times but didn't make the connection to the Burger King news! Good one.
This isn't the first time Tim Horton's was bought by a burger chain. Wendy's used to own them. If anything the case is probably based on that merger.
I sincerely hope they manage to pull it off. U.S. MNC tax policy needs a kick in the nuts. :)
