What do analysts eat for breakfast?

I was wondering what analysts usually eat for breakfast and how much do you spend on it? I was so spoiled by our campus dining hall, but I know for sure I won't have the time to cook myself an omelet in the morning. So what do you guys eat to keep yourself energetic through noon while spending minimal amt of $$?

Thanks a lot in advance

Power bars or something quick in the company cafeteria. Some groups send the interns to pick up breakfast every few days. Also, most desks get an early lunch at around 11:30.

Assuming you're in NYC you can get a bagel and coffee everywhere. If you're a DIYer easy breakfasts are instant oatmeal, instant grits, cereal with fruit, bagel and cream cheese, toast. Here is an easy one with less than 10 minutes of prep, coffee use a machine set on a timer, scrambled eggs with cheese, tomatoes and ham. Just mix them in a bowl, crack the eggs and microwave. A piece of toast and you're golden.

With cream cheese?

Any kind of cheese and pussy don't go well together. That's just disgusting.

eat cheerios... bring a bowl and wash in the pantry sink... and some places will provide free coffee (and also, free quarts of milk) so you can use that with your cheerios. only downside is that cheerios in Manhattan are 8 dollars a box

If you just take a couple pills of adderall every day, then you really only need one meal every two or three days and you can just make that a company-expensed dinner. It's a great plan that makes you super skinny, keeps you constantly alert, and saves you a bunch of money. Best part is that this behavior wouldn't have ANY long term side-effects at all. Trust me.

I LOVE peanut butter. I think the statement about protein is fair.

Super Oatmeal guys. I make a lot of it and put it in the fridge. Good for say 2-3 days plus the 1st serving so you can make it Sunday and get half way through the week.

Oatmeal Flaxseed Blueberries Raisins Protein Powder -- optional Milk

Great amount of energy, vitamins, protein, fruit. Will fill you up and simple to make. Little sugar, little milk, done. That and drink a lot of water. I obsessively drink water. Dehydration or lack of optimal hydration causes so many issues including fatigue, reduced digestive functions, etc.

An omelet only takes 5 minutes to make, get a coffee machine with a timer and set it to brew so you have it waiting for you when you wake up. While you're making your omelet throw some bread in the toaster, pour some juice and you're ready to go.

Haha, come on man, this would take way more than 5 minutes to make, unless you were some sort of McGuyver and set out all of your equipment the night before in the perfect place to reach (even then its optimistic). Think about cracking and beating eggs, actually cooking them, plating it, buttering toast etc etc.

And then it would take 10 minutes to eat.

Seriously, what analyst regularly has freshly made omelets, toast and juice at home on a regular basis.

Load of shit.

Most everyone at my firm enjoys a couple of bowls of cereal and a glass of juice each morning. I assume most decent size banks provide something similar for free right?

Kashi Go Lean High Protein/High Fiber Cereal (10 g fiber - 40%, 13 g protein - 26% for 140 calories) +low fat organic yogurt instead of milk. If you want to get creative, use flavored yogurt and let the cereal absorb it for like 10-15 minutes - end result tastes like desert more so than breakfast. Also you can buy a box of frozen sandwiches/breakfast croisants and just store them at work and microwave them.

i work out at 5 am, then drink a mixed berry (frozen of course) smoothie.. followed by 10 almonds at 9-10 am (depending on when i feel the urge)... lunch begins promptly at 12 pm. usually, the consists of a healthy meal out (salmon, vegetables) followed by my only cup of espresso during the day. Around 3-4 pm, its best to have a whole grain, ultra-fibrous health bar...around 6 pm, grab 2 pieces of fruit...eat your meal around 7-8...as you stay up til about 12 ...avoid a meal at 12 pm...and hopefully asleep by 2. sleep 3 hours ... repeat.

fuck the rest.

"new worth or nothing"

Mixed berry smoothie: ~225 cals Lean cut of salmon: ~185 cals 1 cup mixed veggies: 120 cals 10 almonds @ 7 cals per almond: 70 cals 1 Shot of espresso: ~5 cals 2 Bananas: ~ 242 cals Healthy granola bar: ~150 cals

So for those of us keeping score at home you are allegedly consuming less than ~997 calories in a 19-20 day while working out and in banking? Lol...

Bullshit!

I wake up, curse at how i'm still tired, look at my alarm clock, then curse again that i'm running late. I grab an energy bar and run out the door. I sprint to the subway or try to hail down a cab.

Would I rather have a T-bone steak and fried eggs, sure? But give me the option of an extra 5 minutes to sleep, i'd take the 5 minutes of sleep coupled with a breakfast bar.

Depends on the day. Sometimes I grab something from the cart guy outside my building. Maybe other days cereal or a banana, or maybe some yogurt. Anything that gets me awake.

I don't have coffee though. I may grab it if I feel extremely tired, but it's pretty rare for me.

  • Protein shake if I can eat within the next 2 hours (water + protein)
  • Protein smoothie if not (milk + protein + fruits + light oatmeal + teaspoon peanut butter)
  • Oatmeal
  • 3 hard boiled eggs with bagel + peanut butter
  • 2 eggs over easy + piece of salmon + slice of toast

Usually I eat one of those, sometimes I get creative.

in it 2 win it

I have half a scoop of whey in the morning with a vitamin right when I get up, then when I get to work an egg white omelette with either turkey sausage or ham and broccoli.

Sometimes I'll have a muffin with the omelette If im going carbless for lunch, since I need the carbs to get through the day. Especially on workout days, I'll have granola or other carbs in the morning.

I'm in the gym every morning, hungover or otherwise, and chug several cups of water right after waking up to clean out my system. After that, protein shake, bagel, coffee, all in cost of $3. I have a coffee maker in my workstation; it keeps the coffee line item expense low, is convenient, and I can make it the way I like.

The days I have time or feel like spending any money, I make eggs or oatmeal

Wait, what time are you getting to work? 9? Cause assuming you get there by 9, you'd have to wake up at least at 7:30 in order to hit the gym

I'm not concerned with the very poor -Mitt Romney

I get up at 5:30 to have time to work out, make my own breakfast which consists of two eggs and three pieces of bacon (plus bring a protein shake for later), shower, and get to work by 7:30. That way I almost never have to stay past 5-5:30.

But when I wasn't doing this I would grab a bacon, egg, and cheese every day in the cafeteria in my office.

Sausage, egg and cheese sandwich.

For a while, I was doing a bagel daily, but that was unhealthy, not that the sandwich isn't too but since the bagel becomes sugar in your system...well you get the point.

-6 egg white + 1 whole egg (Toss in pan, cook a lil bit, done) -Oats, 2 slices of whole wheat bread if I'm more lazy -Spoons of natural PB (Mix it in the oats or just eat off a spoon to save time) -Protein w/milk or water

Negligible prep time, 600-850 calories, kicks off the day pretty well

  1. cocaine
  2. coffee
  3. jack daniels
  4. cocaine
  5. (optional) red bull

all by 9 am.

but seriously, either nothing + coffee or a protein shake + coffee.

I'm more of a Knob Creek guy myself, but this is a great way to start.

For the days I don't feel like getting fired, I normally eat after our morning meeting at around 8:30. Our building has $3 omelettes which are good, or I'll grab a small protein shake. Sometimes a fruit cup if I want to be extra healthy, but this only happens about once every 3 months and I always regret it.

I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Chicken and lentils, plus water. About 5 times per day, including breakfast.

You eat peices of shit for breakfast?

Didn't even need to click the link.

for me its 2 servings of fiber one cereal (100% daily fiber intake before the day even starts - BOOM), a glass of grape fruit juice, water and a coffee. I don't go super heavy on breakfast as I tend to eat many smaller meals throughout the day. The fiber keeps me feeling full, grape fruit juice for a boost of energy, water to rehydrate after 8 hours of no water and a coffee for obvious reasons.

Oh, well now your back's gunna hurt cuz you just pulled landscaping duty. Anyone else's fingers hurt?? I didn't think so.

Oats (1/2 cup into 1 cup boiling water) 1 tbsp natural peanut butter 1 tsp honey Bam. Surprisingly delicious, and takes no longer than it takes to boil the water (start the boil while you shower)

Cereals with nuts, banana, random fruits (pineapple, apple, grapes, strawberries, whatever is available), yogurt and milk + an orange juice. I eat this stuff at the office though. I come in some minutes before my co workers to prepare my breakfast and then eat it at the desk while reading some morning news. In case that I have been at the office the whole night or pretty late, a coffee will be included.

3-4 whole eggs oats mixed in cold water with natural pb + cinnamon + maple syrup serving of cod liver oil Kefir Drink or Greek Yogurt If I am feeling extra hungry

"Do you like Huey Lewis and the News?"

Yall should eat more lentils. Significantly more protein, lower glycemic index, fewer calories, more fiber. I mean, they dont taste very good, but as Vi said, dat cut.

Normal morning routine varies depending on whether I am currently bulking or cutting.

Generally speaking: Food: 3 whole eggs 3 egg whites A couple strips bacon 1-2 cups oatmal (if cutting maybe a half cup on workout days, or none for nonworkout days) Maybe fruit

Other: A bunch of coconut water Depending on my schedule for the day, maybe a coffee or a redbull And a couple mg's of adderall xr to wash everything down

It makes sense, I guess. 20 somethings who are extremely focused in life, are of course, going to be focused on health as well.

I'm glad to see that WSO is somewhat healthy.

Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis - when I was dead broke man I couldn't picture this

When I was in the US I'd usually have a Jimmy Dean's Breakfast Bowl (usually the "Delight" kind, turkey sausage) pimped with some extra ham or turkey bacon and some additional cheese. And coffee with lots of half&half.

How do you stomach Muscle Milk? I find it incredibly disgusting.

^Interesting, most people find Muscle Milk to be one of the better tasting protein powders because it is rich from the higher fat content compared to other powders, maybe you just picked a bad flavor? However one thing I noticed, the Muscle Milk RTD's taste different from the same flavor if you mix it yourself ie. Chocolate RTD did not taste as good as Chocolate Muscle Milk made in shaker.
