Where does valuations sit in a PE Megafund? (MO/BO)

Recently offered a position to join the valuations desk at a MF. How are these positions viewed internally/externally? Are they respected jobs? I come from a non target school and wanted to use the brand name of a MF to transition to a top Grad program and go from there. Is this common, or are MO/BO jobs scrutinized at top programs?

The pay's pretty good but it's a dead end professionally. What I mean by that is that there are effectively no exit opps. You will comfortably have a job in valuation and, with a CFA, can make about $220K a year 5 - 10 years out.

thanks for the reply, i know it is a dead end professionally - but would a top MBA be out of the picture? Right now, my goal is to attend an MBA business schools">M7. I currently work in Corp Fin for a Fortune Top 5 company so im struggling to decide what the best route would be to get there. I have completed internships in VC and PE (smaller shop with actual deal exposure).
