Where should I invest my bonus?

Old topic, looking to refresh conversation given current state of market (Dec 2018).

DISCLAIMER: NO ONE'S INPUT WILL BE CONSIDERED LEGAL ADVISE. Haha. Just want ideas.

About to get paid for first full year of work. Expecting $50k (~30k post tax). Just wanted to ask around to see what people did with their bonus after their first year, and if it worked out as expected or if you learned something and wish you had done something different. I know this has been talked about several times on here, but the last 10 years of bonuses have all been paid during a record bull market.

I'm not asking for your personal opinion about where you think the market is heading this year, just want to get ideas about high yield savings accounts, stable stock indexes/ETFs, and possibly navigating the fixed income market for the first time.

Thanks!
