Where to start in prepping for/starting recruiting?

Title says it all mostly. I'm a 1st year analyst in a bb coverage group. Always thought I wanted to do PE recruiting but have recently become a lot more interested in the public markets, particularly macro strategy funds. Where is the best place to start in recruiting? Do HFs usually follow the two year ordeal or is it possible to exit IB earlier? If there is already a thread on something like this, that would be super helpful.

Hi Analyst 1 in IB - Ind, no, I never sleep and so I can respond to any lonely threads (like this one) at all hours of the night. Impressive, I know ;-)

It's possible to exit earlier. Learn how to model and find some long and short ideas to talk up during interviews. Reach out to HH and they'll start shopping you around as clients need you. HF's don't all recruit at the same time like PE.
