Whether to ask firm to pay for BIWS or WSP course when unpaid intern
I'm working for a PE firm in, full disclosure, in an unpaid internship capacity. I'm interested in taking one of the above prep courses to learn interpretation of the three financial statements and financial modeling skills. My Excel skills are pretty decent. Should I bother asking if firm would pay, ideally for WSP (more focused study) looking at total outlay of about $300? I could make the case it would be useful that I could be brought up to speed on these skills. Or should I pay for it myself. (Would be nice if I were paid something.) And then I could practice LBO modeling in my short, internship.
