Which internship experience is more relevant to land a Management consulting job?
I am a junior double majoring in Economics and Finance with a certificate in IT. I have been given the opportunity to intern at EY in either their Transfer Pricing or Risk advisory division. My ultimate goal is to be part of their BAP (Business Advisory Program).
I would like to know which of the two service lines would get me closer to entering the BAP program and if there is a tangible difference in prestige and compensation between the two options I have been given. Which internship would you take?
Former EY BAP consultant here. Definitely the Risk practice, they sit together withing Advisory department and often lend/borrow staff from each other in case of short bench. Your projects will still have things in common with regular business advisory (e.g. you could work on CFO advisory work). Transfer Pricing sits within Tax department and only sometimes losely cooperates with supply chain team in BAP.
JohnyForeigner definitely has the right idea. Go with the Risk opportunity (assume its RAP), and you'll be well positioned for an internal transfer into BAP for full time. Good luck!
OP - Start networking with people in BAP and see if you know anyone who came from TP or RAP to BAP/PI (LinkedIn).
JohnnyForeigner @Bank.Sinatra" How would moving from a big 4 tech consulting (ex. EY TAP / Deloitte BTA) junior internship assist to FT in an EY BAP or a similar start consulting role? Thanks!
