Which one of the MBB has the most quantitative interview?
Dear community,
Can you offer any insights as to which of the MBB has the most quantitative interview? Also, have you any background knowledge regarding the type of data used (e..g tables, charts, etc.)?
Thanks a lot in advance!
There's probably more variation between individual interviewers within the firms than there is between firms. You can expect to run into tables, charts, graphs, etc., especially in the first round. The final round interviews with partners are highly variable.
Why did you want to know?
strongly depends on your background and individual interviewers mood. Might give you a hard case with 10+ compounding interests to calculate or something to triangulate a missing variable, possible even a derivation of a function (thats about the most quant you can expect; they dont expect rocket science)
With non quant Background they tend to test this more, as you need to be able to master basic math on the job. Lawyers or social science Majors therefore tend to get harder quant cases compared to STEM or Econ Majors; these are expected to be able to do the math anyways due to their good academic record in a quant subject.
I interviewed with both Bs this year. Bain was more quantitatively challenging and used far more confusing charts. However, BCG's cases were more unorthodox in their focus and required a more creative approach to problem-solving. Probably equally difficult, with the edge going to BCG.
