Which position is better for career development?
Hello guys,
I’ve got two offers however they’re different roles . One is FP&A and the other is fund operation associate. There’s not high difference btw the pay so I’d like to focus more on the career development.
I’ve been a fund operation analyst a few years and I actually didn’t like the laid back style there and most of the experience is not transferable and very limited to this industry, though the pay and bonus was very nice.
So I applied for the FP&A role, thought it might be a little more technical and will give me more choices than the fund analyst when you want to hop to another job because most of the experience is transferable.

If I go FP&A: I’ll get into this industry ( which I’ve been thinking for a while) and gain experience. It’s not easy for me get this FP&A position because I don’t have prior experience. And if this time I don’t take the opportunity, it’s harder to switch later.

If I go fund analyst: it’s back to where I was and it’s easier than FP&A to start bc I know how the work is done. The environment and culture are familiar to me. The company has a good review on Glassdoor and Indeed, seems like a good company.
Any advice would be welcome!
Depends on what you're looking to do, both roles most likely wont lead to a FO gig but id say FP&A is def better.
Thanks for your reply! Can you elaborate a little more why the FP&A is better? This fund position really has a good pay and culture....otherwise I wouldn't compare it with the FP&A
