Which undergrad schools have the best recruiting pipelines?

Hello all,

I'm currently an HS student looking to get into management consulting after college and I was wondering which undergrad schools have the best recruiting pipeline for top consulting firms (specifically, MBB, Accenture, Deloitte). I will be applying to college in the fall and I want to attend a university that will maximize my chances to get picked up by one of these firms after college. Provided I can get into each of these schools, which has the best recruiting pipeline?

  • Duke University
  • NYU Stern
  • Brown University
  • University of Chicago
  • Cornell Dyson
  • CMU Tepper

Thanks so much!

NYU, UChicago, Duke, and Cornell all send lots of kids to MBB and T2. I'm sure they others are sufficient too but there are a lot of target schools that MBB and T2 target for that specific region. However, if you go to an elite school like Harvard, Wharton, Stanford, you'll be given the opportunity to interview for any US office.

Hey there- currently at MBB as a BA/A/ASC

Would rank as following:

1) Duke by far- all 3 recruit a lot. Know for sure Mck and Bain have a big presence

—big drop off, these next few are close— 2) NYU: mck does but not a huge #. Think it’s the same here for other 2 3) Uchicago- BCG hires a good #. Bain also decent. Mck not a lot at all 4) Cornell- Decent amount across all 3. Have seen lots of engineers

—drop off— 5) brown- two b’s do more than Mck but presence growing slowly. Honestly think recruiting #s are lower cause traditionally less brown kids are excited about consulting. Getting bigger tho

—drop off— 6) Carnegie Mellon: not a lot at MBB

And to the point about Harvard/penn guaranteeing an interview/making it easy. Not true...literally everyone at those schools apply and there is still a cutoff for how many ppl they interview on campus (and get an offer). So yeah there’s more spots but also supply of applicants is insane (vs a place like brown, where theres a lot less “competition” per se). The ratio of offers/applicants on balance actually might not be that different. So yeah even if you go to Harvard, it’s not a walk in the park at all. And to think you need to go to a target school to break in... It’s BS- you can get into these firms from anywhere. Don’t let the school define you. Will you have a better shot at a top ivy? Sure. I also came from a non target where none of these firms interview on campus and got an offer...more about what you do in college than where you go. Believe in yourself and work hard :)

Also..don’t choose a school as a kid in high school just because of how much MBB recruits there. In 2 years you might realize consulting is not something you want to do at all. Choose the school based on how you feel when you visit, and if you’re excited at the idea of going there. Statistically you’re going to spend more in your life there (4 yrs) than in consulting anyway lol (90% MBB leave in 2-3 yrs)

Good luck buddy =) happy 4th

Obviously big target schools for all firms. Personally I've seen more Columbia kids across MBB than Princeton but lots of Princeton as well. Might have to do with Columbia being in NY and thus students being drawn more towards corporate roles? No data to back that up haha, just a personal guess of mine.

But both would be great for recruiting. On par or even stronger than Duke
