Anyone have experience with the Hirevue video interviews?

I am recently looking to go into Consulting as a Senior Associate Level hire and it looks like consulting firms are using this video interview format now? Anyone have experience with HireVue interview you can share, preferably for Deloitte and IBM, but any experience with other firms you can share is much welcomed as well. Thanks very much!!!

Just did mine. It's basically what Daniel said. My advice is to prepare, but don't over prepare. You want to sound natural and come across as such. During the practice section I realized I was over-preparing when my answers began to get worse instead of better. I was trying to figure out how to say more and nearly lost site of my original answer.

I had a couple of those, and one thing I wish I did was to not freak out when there is little time left (~10sec). Realizing I still had a little time left after I've said my answer, I tried to fill the gap with some rambling, which probably sounded dumb. Should've just ended my answer and just smiled during the pause of something..

Had one for an undergrad BlackRock interview Basically it'll give you a question, then ~5 min to prep an answer, then ready or not it will start the recording (that you can end whenever, or it will end automatically after a certain amount of time)

FWIW the questions for that were pretty generic/softball, though I'm sure a more senior position at a consulting firm will be more geared toward cases maybe?

Video interviews are relatively straight forward. Prepare for it as you would a normal interview. You're likely to get questions with a short amount of time to think about and then the recording time (pre-specified typically) will begin for you to record your responses. Do have a trial run with your webcam prior to the interview to make sure everything is working smoothly. There are some good sites on the web that can give you advice on how to position your lights to improve your appearance on the recording - if you wanted to take it that far. Before the interview try to get your in the interview mindset and imagine it was an actual live interview.

This is bizarre. If someone is going to take the time to watch your videos, why the hell wouldn't they just interview you?

"For I am a sinner in the hands of an angry God. Bloody Mary full of vodka, blessed are you among cocktails. Pray for me now and at the hour of my death, which I hope is soon. Amen."

The hardest part of these is sounding natural. Don't stare too hard into the webcam, smile, and try and be natural. It's also tricky answering questions when you have a time constraint. Err on the side of not speaking too much, rather than rambling or having your answers cut off. There's usually an option to stop the recording when you finish answering a question. Keep it crisp and hit stop when you're done.

I will shed the light on the fact that it is widely accepted that job interviews nowadays are getting harder due to the usage of Artificial Intelligence AI. Thus, YOU, as a candidate, must put the H on your chest to be even smarter. You may ask BUT HOW? Hmmm...! Well, it is pretty easy. Use what they are using as an upper hand. I believe that NOW you are aware of what I am talking about, AI. Rest sure, I have written a FREE ebook that demonstrates the science behind job interview questions and how to answer them. Check it NOW, thank me LATER.
