Who Wants to Buy jdOasis.com?

So after a few years of neglect, I am letting one of my children go and putting jdOasis.com up for sale. I figured I'd also announce it here since my visitors and my members understand WSO best, so they can see the potential in JDO.

As WSO has grown, the time I thought I'd have for JDO (managing team, etc), was just not there. I'm hoping I can find it a mom or dad that will take it to its fullest potential.

You can read about the listing here: https://flippa.com/3002683-unique-branded-legal-career-community-pr-4-s… Please ask any questions through the Flippa platform so that everyone can see the answers.

Thanks,
Patrick

@"WallStreetOasis.com", this would probably have good reception in the PE section. This looks like it could be a Joint JD/MBA student or graduates dream. Any young, aspiring Mitt Romneys out there?

actually had the opposite thought - "jd" might actually be too general and you might be better off starting off more niche. many many more JDs (millions) vs investment bankers, and WSO was able to gain traction by focusing on serving a very specific niche (young IBs and students trying to break in) well early on...

Hmm, I see...possibly just focus on undergrads getting into law school and young corp lawyers

Don't forget criminal law and torts. Both are relatively high paying and prestigious areas. There are many people who grow up watching Law & Order and want to be an attorney; the same way that many people grow up watching American Psycho and want to be an IBer.

Also, JDO could have sections like WSO. For example, there could be sections for criminal law, torts, patent law, ect.

kill the guys who run ABL and xoxo and jdoasis should take off.

I'd say JDO's biggest competitor is Top-Law-Schools.com; it's basically what JDO aspires to be on the education side. Not so much focus on career though.

Also interested in the Oasis brand. Obviously my niche is PR/marketing and I can see it taking off quite well. Lots of PR individuals online trying to find a community - thus far they've resorted to blog rings and blog hops but that doesn't make up for an actual forum and database of information, etc.

Currently: future neurologist, current psychotherapist Previously: investor relations (top consulting firm), M&A consulting (Big 4), M&A banking (MM)

Interesting...... I have no interest in running JDO (couldn't be further from my expertise), but I've sent you notes on some other interests of mine in the past. Do you have any interest in essentially franchising the oasis brand? There are other niches where I'd be interested in leveraging this.

Either way - best of luck on your sale

similar to @bank-on-this if the right person is looking to buy, I'd consider an equity stake.

I'd also consider an equity stake - PM me if you're seriously interested and looking for financial backing.

haha, this quickly turned in to the Shark Tank. It looks like capital isn't the problem here, someone who could sell us on their ability to develop the site could easily get the asking price funded.

I will say that every time a new idea comes up on here I have offered to pitch in $ if they put together a bus plan I believed in (thinking most of the ideas were from college students who'd need capital). I think I even told a kid that if he could sell me on the growth potential I would write him a $10k check, which was what he was claiming he needed for funding. I have yet to get a single response to my offers.
