As an analyst 1, is it appropriate to wear wholecut shoes such as this? Less conservative than your typical cap toe oxford, but I think they look pretty slick.

Yeah I think you could pull those off. But to be sure, it's a very mature, very traditional look for a young man so make sure the rest of your wardrobe follows along or it can start to look a little goofy.
I would not recommend buying cheap wholecut shows. They will fall apart really fast. Instead, spend the same money on a pair of better (albeit less slick) shoes.
GOOD wholecut shoes that will last are $1200 - $2000.
