Why AM and not M&A or PE
I'm a student looking for an internship in AM but I've had experience in m&a and pe. One question that I get a lot is why AM and not the others? I feel that I answer this question quite weakly.
Why I choose AM is:
- the others imo are more disconnected to the market
- am is faster paced then the others
- pe/m&a focuses a lot on deals- negations involved have a lot of moving parts and if a deal falls over your work has less impact. in am even if you research a lot and the company you are looking at sucks, its still a success because you don't buy it (or you can short it depending on your fund)
- scope of companies you cover are a lot broader
are the reasons i have weak? or am i not speaking well enough?
cheers
They want to see that you love the markets and that nothing gets you more excited than researching and pitching and investment idea. Of course, you would want to be able to follow up by actually pitching an investment idea you have researched.
You make a decision and you get to watch the results of that decision...you control the outcome.
