Why aren’t these celebrations “super spreader” events?

People are packing the streets celebrating Biden’s “win”. Social distancing out the window. Thousands of people in one cramped space. A mask doesn’t do shit to prevent infection when your that many people and that close together. Why aren’t these super spreader events?

They certainly might be. Masks definitely help a lot, and there isn't some max capacity limit to mask effectiveness, but people may definitely get sick from attending these street parties. You can bet that I celebrated with my significant other and expensive champaign, not with a public gathering.

All that said, I find it incredibly disingenuous for conservatives to suddenly care about COVID. After a year of downplaying the viruses' seriousness, refusing to wear masks and even throwing public temper tantrums when asked to, and flat out pretending like it no longer exists, the concern trolling shown here and all across the internet is just dishonest, and it certainly didn't require yet another new politics thread.

Finally, it was a win, not a "win."
