They must not exude personality, which would be inappropriate because it might distract from the money they make– and indeed their boss's personality as portrayed through the money. They are, after all, a "Banker" ... So the bankers can't afford to smile

it's because bankers generally have bad teeth from all the fine dining they have to endure. it's a hard life.
