Why is my school a target for IBD and not S&T? Will they be posted?

I attend a midwestern target (NU/UC) and on our online career database and it seems that we're barely getting any recruitment for S&T. For example Deutsche and Citi are both recruiting for IBD but have nothing for S&T, and for whatever reason Barclays and BAML are only recruiting for S&T in Asia. The only firms with online resume drops for S&T so far are GS, MS, Baird and BMO so I'm definitely starting to get worried as I've heard they're recruiting for SA's earlier this year.

Also, is there any effective way to find out what division an alumnus is in besides looking on linkedin? On our alumni directory most people only have the firm and their title listed and not whether they're in IB or S&T.

S&T recruiting is down across the board. If they're not posting, it's because they're drawing entirely from their SA class.

LinkedIn is probably the best (and only) bet beside your career directory. Maybe you can try reaching out to somebody in your schools alumni database if they're at a good firm... they might not be in S&T but they might be able to hook you up.

Also, look at inter-dealer brokerage (ICAP, Cantor Fitzgerald, etc.). It's not as sexy as S&T, but the work has many similarities and could be a good chance to network.

"Yes. Money has been a little bit tight lately, but at the end of my life, when I'm sitting on my yacht, am I gonna be thinking about how much money I have? No. I'm gonna be thinking about how many friends I have and my children and my comedy albums."
