Why people say I have changed

Need advice from people out here. Since childhood was type of a person who constantly smiles and so on. It is now couple of years since I started to take life more seriously. Trying to do good at academics, read a lot, finding internships and so on. This constant preoccupation with my plans started to impact me; always look serious, smiling sometimes but mostly preoccupied with "plans". More and more I hear from people saying that I have changed; I am not the same as I was before and so on. I dont take these words close to my heart but when it starts to come from family members, it makes me to think, am I wrong or not.

Any comment/advice would be very helpful. Thank you

Everyone changes from when they were a child.

Actually everyone changes every second, neurochemically. Our brain is always at work and we have the power to change our neurochemistry by our own free will.

Hey poster, hopefully as you grow older you are changing for the better. I can hear how those around you may not think you smile as much as before since you maybe are smiling less now. I would just hope that everything you are doing by taking life more seriously, working hard, all that is something you are doing because hopefully you enjoy it and hopefully makes you smile. If you feel in danger or forced to do the stuff you are doing, I hope you are able to get help and/or out of a bad situation if it’s not fun for you. Maybe I’m being too idealistic and not in touch with your reality, as I don’t know anything about your situation besides your post, but am just sharing a hope that you are enjoying what you do and hopefully those around you can also see how it makes you deeply happy on the inside and outside hopefully.

good luck, best wishes :)

Thank you for the thoughtful answer. No, no one forces me to do anything (gladly). In this matters, family and people I trust support me, and also I am very happy with where I am.

I mean yeah, it'd be kinda weird if you were 30 and the same person when you were 15.  People mature, experience life, gain wisdom, and grow over time.  Just don't become too much of a bitter asshole as so many do in business / finance and you should be good.  Also, why not focus on plans?  People who don't wind up being 50+ without a penny to their name and tons of debt.  It sucks life can't be all fun and games all the time, but at the end of the day we're animals who value resources, and if you want them, you have to take it seriously.
