Will my History degree stop me joining an MBB?
I will be studying either History or a History and Politics degree at a top UK university (Either Oxford, Durham, St.Andrews - and Exeter which is a top uni for History).
Will this prevent me joining the likes of McKinseys or BCG? I plan to set up a financial tech type business at uni and will join the relevant finance societies and such, and I will have a number of extra-curricular which will highlight my leadership, communication, organisational etc. etc. skills
Would I be competitive? (I expect a First would be expected ofc)
I don't think they care about major much
They don't care about majors in the UK - you'll be fine, Oxbridge>LSE/Imperial>UCL>Warwick and other top RG for MBB & Strat Consuluting.
McKinsey/Bain et al. essentially recruit from Oxbridge and the 3 London unis. Your degree doesn't matter
You won't get in from Exeter, no matter where it is in league tables for History.
