Will This Make Me Look Like a Tool?

I have a couple interviews with equity research firms this upcoming Monday for a summer intern position. I don't have any direct experience with working at a finance firm since I'm only a sophomore, but I am working at a student-run start-up at my school as a financial analyst where I did some modeling work and legit reports.

I was wondering if I should print out some of those documents and keep them on hand in a briefcase so that if I talk about my experience I could show them the work I did. Is that a go or will it just make me look like a tool?

Yeah I wasn't planning on bringing them out unless it directly answers a question the interviewer asks.

So should I bring them or not?

  1. Carry a portfolio similar to this one if at all (matching your shoes and your belt). http://www.louis-vuitton-review.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/090602-s…
  2. Bring your docs, but only show them if the moment is right and it makes sense to do so.
  3. I brought some legit research (portfolio and single stock) with me to an interview once. Its a good way of showing that you can apply all these analysis tools and that you are ready to get your hands dirty.

Good luck.

P.s. Speaking of man bags. There is an intern on the floor carrying a man bag around. I never thought I would ever see that in an office. An absolute crime if you ask me.
