where to live depends on whether you have family or not. Single? Uptown, Deep Ellum, Bishop Arts, maybe Lower Greenville. Got a family or soon to be? Consider areas around White Rock Lake or - if you have the money - Highland Park.

Dallas is not lacking in diverse places to eat and your typical big city activities during the week (I.e. plenty of museums, concert or sporting venues, etc.) but the reason I like it is the proximity to fun weekend activities just a drive away. You've got casinos to the north in Oklahoma, lakes everywhere around north Dallas and Austin for boating/cookouts, obviously live music capital in Austin, and being equidistant with west coast/east coast/Denver/Chicago is just convenient if you want to take off on long weekends and go anywhere in the US.

Summers SUCK though
