I feel like living in Dallas has been talked about ad nauseam on this site.
where to live depends on whether you have family or not. Single? Uptown, Deep Ellum, Bishop Arts, maybe Lower Greenville. Got a family or soon to be? Consider areas around White Rock Lake or - if you have the money - Highland Park.
Dallas is not lacking in diverse places to eat and your typical big city activities during the week (I.e. plenty of museums, concert or sporting venues, etc.) but the reason I like it is the proximity to fun weekend activities just a drive away. You've got casinos to the north in Oklahoma, lakes everywhere around north Dallas and Austin for boating/cookouts, obviously live music capital in Austin, and being equidistant with west coast/east coast/Denver/Chicago is just convenient if you want to take off on long weekends and go anywhere in the US.
Summers SUCK though
Summers are brutal here. I have a drop top car and I only do it for 2 weeks of the yr
also a lot of people talk up how great no state income tax is but we have one of the highest property tax rates in the country
Is it because it's humid, or is it more of a dry heat like Phoenix?
all homes have pools but good luck getting decent internet!!
nah. Most homes here don't.
Personally I have not enjoyed my time much in Dallas. Are you a white male that was in a frat? You will love it here. Anyway, no matter who you are (except if you have a family), I'd live in Uptown. It's by far the best location imo and you can find some really good deals if you are trying to live on a budget.
