Women' Event at BB for 1st Year MBA- Worth going?
Dear All,
Sorry, if I posted in the wrong forum. This is my first time posting.
In September, I applied for a women's MBA networking event at a BB's headquarters in NYC. I had to write a cover letter/essay and submit my profile just for the event. The event is held for a few hours for female MBA 1st year students. I received the confirmation/invite only today. The event is next Friday, on Nov 9. I live in California, and the BB does not reimburse travel. I attend a Tier 2 MBA program in the UC system. Also, this BB does not normally recruit at my school. I eventually want to work in the San Francisco Bay Area after graduation.
Has any of you went to any of these MBA events/networking days designed specifically with a diversity purpose? Is it worth the costs of travel/hotel just to attend one of these events for a few hours? I just want to know if these are just general information sessions vs. the type that you get to interact with the recruiters and hiring managers. Have you "gotten" anything out of these type of events?
I would appreciate any comments and/or advice. Thanks and have a nice day/evening. :)
