Wondering about a specific scenario means I won't get a return offer?

Recently, the interns have all been having a lot of downtime at my EC firm and so we've just been going through training and practices for technical skills.

One of my fellow interns was like "Hey did you know there's an end-of-summer coding assignment?"

And I was like "No, because no one ever emailed me about it?"

Basically, they found that one intern had worked on an end-of-summer technical/quantitative skills assignment, whereas the other interns (the others of us in the same practice) had not gotten any instructions to do one.

FWIW, we've all done a mid-summer coding evaluation.

I'm wondering if this means that only the person who did the assignment is being considered for a return offer? I can definitely see why they'd stand out from the rest of us who didn't get the assignment in terms of charisma/personality. I can't speak to their work quality, however.

If I don't get a return offer, it'll be disappointing, but I tell myself that I can't really do anything about it anymore at this point and I'll just have to recruit hard for FT, so feel free to be honest.
