Work Experience - Short summer internship?

Do some PE firms take on people for short internships or work experience?

I'm in the UK, have an internship at a European BB lined up for the summer but will still have 5 or so weeks at the end before college starts; i was thinking of applying to a load of PE firms such as Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Providence Equity Partners, Cinven, M Vision, Atlantic-Pacific Capital Inc to see if I could do a month or so with them. I'll also have done an internship at a magic circle law firm by the time i get to summer.

Was wondering if anyone had any perspectives; or if such firms would possible take someone on for that time (i'm not looking to get paid) and basically whether I should try it.

what makes you think a PE would want to waste the time to train you for 5 weeks? especially when you just finished interning at a european BB. If anything if the group likes you then ask for a little extension.

And they certainly won't have a formalized program. As such, if you do talk your way in you'll likely just be fetching coffee, which isn't all bad as you'll not necessarily want to jump right back in to work after your SA slot, but will still get to put it down on your resume. What I'd do though is ask a senior PE alum from your school if he could hook you up with something between the end of your BB internship and school starting again; he might be willing to take you on for a few weeks and let you help out a little. It's not likely, but I'd say it is your highest probability play.
