We spoke with hiring managers and recruiters at a few of the financial firms we work with and learned what skills and experience they're looking for on your resume. I summarized it in a blog post here.

Most desired experience (in order):
- Working for a finance firm: naturally, on-the-job experience is the best thing you can get.
- Sales experience: experience selling anything else is very valuable, especially tech, insurance, or even door-to-door.
- Retail and/or Service-oriented experience: if you're good at dealing with impatient or unhappy customers, that's a plus.
- Market knowledge through other means: are you reading WSJ? Investopedia? Do you invest yourself or do so with pretend money as an exercise? This all shows initiative and interest in finance.
