If not for COVID, I would say work from office. But it's mostly because I am used to that.
Work from office if you have an actual office as opposed to a cubicle and you don’t have to share your office room with anybody else.
I'm actually an office guy tbh. I learn a lot from the people around my and it makes me better at my job, its easier to demonstrate my improvement and ability to seniors, and I like the people on my team whereas I've been like completely by myself during Covid
"In any profession, 90% of people are clueless but work by situational imitation, narrow mimicry & semi-conscious role-playing. Except social "science" and journalism where it is 99% and 100%, respectively." - Nassim Nicholas Taleb
I’m not joking, I drink throughout the day. I don’t get shit faced because I still have to do my job, lol, but I definitely get tipsy but I sober up after I eat.
I did work from the office for my first year after undergrad and then made the case to work from home. I didn't value the in person meetings personally and felt that I could do my whole position remotely and just call in to any meetings.
I was WFH for 3 years in this position and initially I thought it was great. But, over time I missed a few things like managing up to my superiors. I was doing all the work at 100% - very good quality, but my ability to convey my excellence wasn't that great.
So my recommendation would be to carefully 'toot your own horn' regarding assignments and victories within the workplace to your management. Try to help out your manager's manager in work and assignments and be sure to track/document your weekly and monthly progress to present in your bi-annual or annual reviews.
I liked working remotely.
