100%  but there is some method to my madness, the gaming keyboards and mice have downloadable software and u can assign macros just to make life easier for yourself, but the pc was very much for games but with my internship coming up it's now mostly for studying haha

I own two Acer Monitors for over 7 years and they look brand new to this day.  I will always buy Acer monitors.  Also get a Mechanical Keyboard. My hands would always hurt from typing so much, but the mechanical keyboard has helped a lot.  sure its a little loud and I may not take it to the office when it reopens, but we'll see.

My Topre silent 45g keys on my Realforce R2 PFU Limited + included foam are amazing.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.

My trusty laptop died so I pulled the cord and built a PC:

i5 - 10600k, gtx 3070, 32gb ram

Monitor - typical acer 75hz and a 240hz one (Initially bought for gaming but holy shit does it make reading long documents, scrolling, tabbing through excel SO much smoother and less strain on the eyes)

Keyboard - havic mechanical keyboard (cheap and quiet)

Desk - electric sit / stand desk (I have it stand mode for basically the entire work day. Back feels 10x better)

Chair - Herman miller. Most companies have a relationship with them and get massive corporate discounts. I got 50% off.

Probably ~3k all in which isn't bad considering it blows any fully loaded laptop out of the water for a comparable / slightly higher price point.

Most are given laptops but a lot of firms also (not sure if interchangeable usage here so check on that) offer / grant access through virtual machines. Essentially logging in to a secured workspace remotely with a username, login, token, and security key. This can be done with a personal PC / laptop / etc.

I will note that if you have a powerhouse PC it won't make much of a performance difference. Your "performance" limit of will be defined by the server you are logging into as opposed to the personal computing power of your build.

No specific plugs here (besides the Steelcase chair I've got - never thought I'd spend $1k on an office chair, but it's the best money I've ever spent)

But if you have a Microcenter in your town, I HIGHLY recommend hitting it up and finding someone in store to help. I was always baffled why these guys hadn't been put out of business by AMZN yet, but it was pretty clear once I actually started becoming a Microcenter patron for WFH peripherals and whatnot.
