Worth it to Transfer Dream Job - McKinsey
I currently go to a state school that is ranked over 100 and my dream job is to work at MBB. I know that this is going to be a challenge, but I have worked extremely hard over the past few years to get myself in a position to help make this a reality. At this point, I am also willing to do almost everything necessary. However, I am still very hesitant as I currently attend university on a full-ride merit scholarship and would have to pick up loans in order to transfer to a top school if I got in.
Therefore coming into transfer season I am exploring the possibility of trying to enter a target school. My stats include:
Academics:
Majors: Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain Management Minors: Economics, Math
GPA: 3.97 (After 3 Semesters)
ACT: 33
Work Experience:
Intern at a Mid Market PE Fund
Multiple Software Development Internships. (F500, Very Established Startup, Startup)
Bought and sold my first company before I turned 18.
Extra-Curricular Experience:
Student Government Executive.
Executive on Campus Programming Board.
Fraternity Housing Officer
Investment Club Group Leader
Extensive Volunteer Experience
Any advice is appreciated. But I would really love your thoughts on my ability to transfer to a target school and if it is worth it.
With those stats I'd transfer in a heartbeat, particularly if I wasn't interested in any of the great technology outcomes from my current school. Opinions vary on just how important undergrad is, but looking back now I most definitely wish I'd aimed higher. But if you're going to do this go big-the Ivy+ category. No point in leaving the 110th ranked school to try for the 60th.
