Worth My Time?

I've been in touch with a very respectable MM bank in Chicago. My contact there wants me to come in and set up some informational meetings with some people, unfortunately he also told me that recruiting for their analyst program is closing, but depending on response rate they may have some openings. Is it worth my time and money to get myself up to Chicago (3 hour trip from where I am) with the hope that there might be some openings?? i should also mention I don't have any offers right now. Thanks.

Of course you should get your ass over there. You only need one person to take an offer elsewhere and you are in business. You want to be the first person on that waiting list they would call.

Considering you have no other opps and your contact said "there may be openings" based on their responses to you as a means of covering his ass so that you're not assuming you will go there and automatically get a job, you would be a fool to not make the trip. Take the time, make a great impression, and hopefully earn a position - don't be shortsighted, see the big picture here - if you want to break into banking this could very well be your best shot.
