Worth Taking a Class at a School Someone didn't Graduate From?
Asking for a friend.
My friend graduated from a lower tier ivy with a 4.0 and transferred from a state school after 1 year. His GPA at the state school was a 3.56 - he got in the ivy as a transfer because he got into the ivy in high school but decided not to go before deciding to apply to transfer - thinks he wouldn't have gotten in otherwise.
Apparently can get his GPA at the state school from a 3.56 to a 3.64 with an A in one class and, since the school is online, this semester could be his only chance to take a class like that. It seems kind of arbitrary but maybe the difference between a 3.5 and a 3.6 looks big. Would it be worth it if he's specifically targeting H/S MBA programs down the line? Seeing as he got a 4.0 in his ivy school that should outweigh a 3.56 at the state school right? And wouldn't it look weird if he took a random class 3 years after he left the original school? Am I wrong or should he take any opportunity to improve his profile?
Thanks!

Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
Your "friend" shouldn't worry about it. He graduated from an ivy with a 4.0 - that's damn impressive and that's all that matters. I wouldn't even list the GPA from the state school.
