Would a non-finance related bachelor's thesis on cv intimidate recruiters?

Dear friends,

My goal is to break into finance, either S&T or Research. I have just finished my bachelor's thesis in Economics and have received a very good grade at it. I was initially going to write a thesis within financial economics but my mentor was not into finance at all and said he wouldn't be able to give any advice if I wrote about finance. So I chosen to writing about immigration.

When I've been on interviews it has sometimes been brought up by the interviewer; "Oh, so you're in the end of your Bachelor's, what do you write about for your thesis.". And many cv:s I've seen include the thesis topic etc.

What do you think about this?

But let's say I get a prize for my thesis, then I would like to include it, would it be considered strange that it's not within finance if I apply for a job within finance? I know it's a long shot, but would really appreciate some thoughts on this :)
