Would cold mail recipients be more incline to answer juniors or sophomores?
Currently cold mailing everywhere and everyone getting very limited responses as a non-target, which is fine by me as I understand that it is a number game. I will be a Junior this Fall semester, but I decide to most likely delay my graduation by a year, making me technically a Sophomore. I been referring myself as a Junior in the emails as I figured that bankers would be more incline to help a Junior than a Sophomore. Was wondering if I should start referring myself as a sophomore? *If I refer myself as a Junior and I'm able to land a decent internship and receive an offer, I will not delay my graduation. *If I refer myself a sophomore in emails and land a sophomore internship, I will delay my graduation. *If I'm not able to land anything in IBD for Summer 2019, I will delay my graduation.
Doesn't matter what year you say, that has little if any effect on response rates. The key is finding a connection of some kind based on their LinkedIn, bio, or other social media. Then it is no longer a "cold email" but rather you can start off by mentioning that you have something in common, which "warms" them up to speak with you. Look for things such as geography, sports, philanthropies, school, etc. Your response rates will increase drastically.
Mind if I pm you my cold mail template? Trying to see how/where I can add a connection part to it.
Sure thing. Send it over, and I can also send you the general "template" I often use.
