Would College Basketball Players Boycott the Final Four?
According to Jay Bilas, a boycott of the NCAA Final Four has been discussed by players in the past due to the lack of monetary compensation.
"...[a boycott of the Final Four] has been discussed among players. And that is not some crazy notion. That's a fact. It's a fact that's been confirmed by multiple people. It's a possibility."
In regard to the boycott, I would never sit out of a game I worked tirelessly for for much of my existence. I don't buy that a Final Four boycott would ever happen. I don't think an entire team would mutually agree to not play in the most important game/games of their life up to that point.
As to the topic of paying athletes, what about the scholarships these student athletes are receiving? I know not every athlete receives a scholarship, and I think there's a fine line on this topic because of that. But man what I would do to not have student debt! I know these athletes work extremely hard to make it to practice, games, team meetings, class, etc. I see pros and cons to both sides of the argument.
So, what's your view on this? I'd especially like to hear from some of you current/former college athletes as nobody truly knows what you all endure.
