Would you leave top group at BB for a new/growing group at an EB?
As the title implies, have gotten an offer from a relatively new and apparently growing group at an EB -- I was not actively recruiting as I feel pretty comfortable in my current IB role but was approached by their recruiter and was curious to see how the process would go as I've not interviewed back since internship recruitment.
I love the people in my current team and think the pace of work really matches my style, plus it's the top group at my bank (lower tier BB). But also thinking about my career for the foreseeable future (not interested in buyside, want to stay in banking), I feel as though joining a new and growing group is a compelling prospect, especially at an EB where prestige and comp are prob much higher too. Another thing I've been thinking about is how work/life balance might get even worse though in the switch from BB to EB...
Just wondering how anyone else goes about thinking through this kind of thing?
I would take any EB group over DB LevFin
Newer groups can be an absolute grind - have a friend who worked in one (at the analyst level) and it was brutal. Think about how many pitch/comps/etc are pulled from old decks, and imagine not having that knowledge base to pull on. Just something to keep in mind
