Would You Rather: Career Start Timing

Would you rather:

A) Start a career in IB M&A in the back half/immediately following an economic recession

OR

B) Within 6-18 months preceding an economic recession

And why?

Edit: Answer can be industry specific. To clarify by “IB M&A” I am only differentiating from IB S&T, IB ER. Not implying FIG M&A.

I would think following the recession. Companies will be ready to do a ton of M&A with all of the crazy low prices, think about the banks and bank stocks. JP Morgan, Citigroup, and BAML are all incredibly strong right now and are sitting on legit mountains of cash, this can all be deployed to suck up the little guys like CFG, ALLY, etc for basement level prices. This will drive a great deal of M&A, furthermore companies will begin to start borrowing a great deal as well
