WSO: House of the Day
Whenever I feel burnt out and need to be reminded of why I work so hard, or why I strive to land a job where I will have to be working harder, I like to do some window shopping. I know the WSJ already has a House of the Day section, but that is not enough eye candy for me, even though I will start this thread off with one of their listings.

So monkeys, next time you see a house that screams over indulgence, make my window shopping search easier and post it here.
I love the WSJ House of the Day section and I look at it sometimes as well. They've got some pretty amazing houses / mansions / palaces there. Great motivation.
I'm still not sure if that's a joke or not Ty. One part of me is thinking trailer park and the other part is thinking ingenuity.
Definitely a motivator. Possibly my favorite section in wsj
Is it odd that I only want house that is around 2200 sqft?
Here's one that I've seen from back home that I've always liked. It's not my favorite style of house, I prefer Mediterranean architecture, but the entertainment floor is probably one of the best I've seen. Besides, $8.5mm for 30,000 square feet is a bargain...

If you want to see some (relatively) sick Mediterranean houses, just check out the Windemere and Dr. Philips area around Orlando, FL. What's great about the houses around there is the land isn't exceptionally expensive...so when you see a $10mm house, it's like $9mm+ worth of house.
Regards
P.S. I'm not sure how to embed pictures so if someone wants to give me a tutorial, I will post the pics of the entertainment areas.

People ask me why I'm so thrifty when it comes to spending $7 on beer or $30 on dinner.
IT'S BECAUSE I CAN BUY A FRIGGING 1865 MANSION IN IOWA FOR $340K

Yeah, but how do you sleep at night knowing you live in Iowa?!? LOL. #burn
Just kidding.

^^^ A whole lot better. No trucks rumbling past my 410 square foot "one bedroom" at 3AM. Mowing the lawn would be a chore, though.

As long as it has a urinal made out of concrete built into the wall its gonna match my style.
Naperville, IL looks like a nice place to live if you are comfortable but not super rich. You're a short commute away from Chicago so you can still work a decent job in finance, but you can live in a place like this for $1.2 million.

Check out houzz.com.
^^^ The true cost is going to be the heating bill in the cold Chicago winters. Also, you have to be a "Napervillain".
If I really had to spend $1.25 million on a house, here's what I'd buy:
http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/303-N-Deere-Park-Dr-W-Highland-Park-I…
-It's on Lake Michigan. -It's in one of the best suburbs of Chicago. -I only have to heat 4500 square feet. -I get a huge lawn and backyard. -40 minute ride to Chicago. -Very good schools.

$2 million really goes a long way in Mexico......
^^^ Don't forget to add $500K/year for protection money.
the mexico house was in one of those MTVs challenge shows
I'm so glad other people do this too... it's my little escape from reality during the day when I envision all this hard work paying off... some of those houses are straight up baller...
