WSO Statistics: Whose Who

The average WSO user is evidently a male Caucasian, averaging 150K in income, age 25 - 34 with no kids, but somehow a mass of the population are UG's.

But, the numbers we're hitting in the mobile browsers are what's interesting.

We all got a discussion going over at Patrick's suggestion forum about improving the UI in mobile WSO, most people seem to be hinting for a "flat UI" like Quora or whatnot, and especially targeting a mobile app. The argument of course was that we much rather have a slick mobile site than an app (cost wise).

This is WSO. Thoughts? In your mind, is this what you pictured WSO to be, or is it radically different?

In my mind I was the only black guy here, but apparently there's a few more of us slinking around the forums.

Neither, these are stats WSO connects to a 3rd party service that I tracked down and redisplayed here. It doesn't simply mean 70% are 25+ it just means 70% of all visitors are 25+. Does it not make sense the UG passing by would ask something as asinine as that while the 25+ mostly scrolls around?

Do you work for WSO or just a concerned monkey?

No way that 70% of this site is 25+, given the sheer number of posts on how to write an email or tie a tie, etc. etc. Or maybe just the Pareto principle in effect?

Yeah, but I believe we'd need to prop up some funds all together if that's what we really want. If you got a spare $5K-10K laying around, you could always convert the mobile site into a flat UI as an unofficial adaption lol.

FutureWaller:
WSO NEEDS AN APP. All mobile sites (slick or not) are so damn inconvenient. An app would be worth the money in the long run.

Why don't they just charge like $5-$10 for the app? I'm assuming the majority of users wouldn't have a problem paying.

These are extremely accurate because WSO actually registered with the 3rd party, thus logging nearly all visitor information into the display you see above, the only way for it not to be valid is by user errors. WSO uses and/or is tracked by 5 different analytic services.

Check your stats, that's not what it says. I doubt the accuracy of these figures anyway.

The sample size for the stats you posted is tiny, though I'm assuming the "age group" numbers were individual people.

They get the demographic content from your cookies through at least Quantcast and Google Analytics. Not sure what other ones they use because I don't care to look that in depth but all these photos are from Quantcast Measure. It is somewhat accurate in ranges but by no means correct. It studies your web usage and determines approximations.

This is really interesting to me actually. I wasn't expecting the who's who breakdown of demographics to shake out this way... A bit surprised the female representation was this high... Would have expected it to be lower...
