Ya boy got a job!! Any WFH Advice?
My spy calls printed this morning and I’m gonna be a new baby analyst soon. Getting my WFH setup ready. Big wide desk, several monitors, lots of water and Red Bull. Comfy chair.
What else should I get?
Any advice for a new analyst?
Is online training miserable? Will I feel like a dickhead bothering my manager/co-worker via call or email if I have questions? Any tips to learn and transition into the new role smoothly will be appreciated!
Just a covid era grad happy to finally be employed
Firm will likely give you monitors. You will feel like a dickhead bothering coworkers etc, however it has to be done. The only way to learn is to ask questions. Not sure what type of firm you're joining, but you could start studying for the SIE. If you aren't give dedicated time to study, then you'll want to start before you begin working. If you are given time to study, then no need to start early.
get comfortable doing all the work through chat and calls, it is very different.
do whatever you can to protect your eyes. lots of oxygen, clean air, computer glasses, the correct prescription lenses, etc
Get lubricant
Thank you 3 for the replies already! The blue light is a good call! Same with the lube. And yes, once I get comfortable I’ll start preparing for the SIE.
All solid advice thx guys. I’m excited man.
God I hope I’m not a complete laughing stock, and instead impress them & help take some of the workload off the desk.
Typically, on your monitor you can adjust the RBG color settings. Forget the blue light glasses and just turn the blue down. If you need to work with colors, just change it back briefly.

Dress clothes
*Dress shirts. No need for pants these days...
I always wear dress pants. What if you stand up for some reason?
Congrats on the new job.
Recommend getting a good chair made by Steelcase or Herman Miller. Keep a button down nearby for zoom calls.
First and foremast, congratulations on breaking in. This is a momentous occasion you will reflect on for years to come - an excellent jumpstart for your career.
For the home office, you should consider the most efficient and optimized rig where your elegant glides across the keys and screens compare to the masterful concertos of Mozart, John Williams and Post Malone . Some say two monitors + laptop is the "ideal," but I can tell you aren't on here for ideal - you are here for the pinnacle of optimization to drive top bucket returns and beyond. With that in mind, you'll need at least four monitors + laptop to really hit your stride and shock your post-MBA associate with your skills. At all times you should have a screen dedicated to each of Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel - you know... that full "Microsoft Suite" you have so elegantly showcased on your resume. Additionally, you'll want a screen for YouTube / Netflix to parallel your entertainment game, and of course, the last screen to constantly refresh your equity and crypto portfolios on the reg - always have to be ready to pounce on the latest 4x MoM opportunity to retire by 27 like most of the talented professionals on this site.
Godspeed young Padawan and get ready for the ride of your life. Strap in.
I just came in my pants.
You’re right. 3 27’s it is. Thanks for turning me up. Gave all replies bananas, thx guys
Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't everywhere going back in the office like very soon? Not sure I'd invest much in a full WFH setup.
