Career Resources
Why not do a search on LinkedIn?
Do you go there? Why not ask the upperclassmen who would be in these roles? That should give you an idea of how competitive the process is. I know they get some recruitment from firms, but I don't know how many each firm typically takes, or how competitive it actually is.
If you want names of consulting firms that recruit at UNC and number of students that go into consulting, you can ask your office of career services. Some firms' websites will also have a list of employees that you can search by alma mater.
I was not in KF/Business when I was at UNC, nor did I actually make it into consulting, so take this with a grain of salt. From what I've heard, on average 1 - 3 UNC kids will get into each MBB. These kids are usually Moreheads or really top performers in KF.
8 or so kids who are great but not breathtaking will end up at Deloitte Consulting. A couple will land a spot at other 2nd/3rd tiers like ATK, Booz, and Wyman.
Beyond that, IBM will take a bunch. Then Accenture and each non-deloitte Big4 will hire a few.
Everyone else ends up at firms like Huron, Navigant, CEB, and boutiques in Atlanta/Charlotte/Raleigh. Capital One also takes some of the kids who are looking for consulting-oriented work.
I found out after I graduated that there's a consulting club, so they're probably your best bet for accurate information.
Actually, this is pretty consistent with what I've heard as well. Thanks for letting me know! It sounds like UNC places relatively well.
