Zoom/Teams Interview Tips?
Just got notified of a Big 5 Canadian bank accelerated round I have (over the moon excited for this). Both 1st and 2nd round will be a zoom/teams call from what I understand.
Does anyone have experience interviewing/being interviewed over video chat or have any tips for it? I believe that there must be people out there who've thought the same thing/are wondering what to be on the look-out for.
Look at the camera
This is huge. Instinct is to look at the person you are talking to on the screen, but you need to look into the camera to make it feel like you’re making eye contact. Someone staring at the screen is a little weird because then it’s like your looking slightly below their eyes.
It don't matter tbh, the interviewers are looking at the screen and will understand why a candidate is not looking straight at them. Got an offer with GS for next summer and I never looked in the camera once. It's mostly how you can brand yourself and how well your responses are
Dont put fullscreen so you can still see the time at the bottom right
Would time just be important because I want to make sure my answers are concise?
Dress like it is a normal interview. Focus on the camera, but it is nbd if you take your eyes off for a bit.
Be comfortable answering questions into the camera/screen even if there's no one on screen. Some interviewers would just dial in with no video. Good luck!
Thanks!
Which bank? & how did it go?
