Zoom/Teams/Meets STORIES

We’re coming up on almost the 2 year anniversary since covid made a lot of various different jobs and businesses utilize some sort of online video communication.

Maybe there are other threads about this but with this I want to ask everyone what their most embarrassing/funny fuck up or mishap has been on one of these…or even something you’ve witnessed.

I’m sure there’s some comedy gold out there so let’s see it.

Funniest

Was on a model walk-through Webex call with my MD, associate, and two associates from the other bank advising the client, and the company CEO and CFO. The company CEO decides to turn off his camera mid-way through the call, but kept his mic on, unknowingly. About a minute later we hear a loud fart coming through the Webex and then a muttering "ahhh fuck." I'm really about to lose it at this standpoint because this all happened during a tense discussion between my bank and the other bank about some operating assumptions in the model. Just then, another fart comes in and just silences everyone. My MD gets really annoyed because he's calling from his phone and asks us like what the fuck is going on.

Had an MD take Zoom calls from his young daughter's bedroom or some playroom. In his background, you would see hand paintings and girly decorations. Thought it was kind of funny to see him aggressively tear apart our models, decks and other work while you hear his daughter in the background just singing or messing around lmao.

During my summer internship Webex training last year some dude flushed the toilet and it was loud af. The lady who was running the training was very frazzled.

This year during FT training someone did not mute themselves when they were playing a round of golf, while we were all in training for the SIE. Took him about two minutes to realize he was screaming in our ears for a good bit of time...

My old boss was crossing boundaries long before COVID was a thing. He used to enjoy having staff walk with him and "riff strategy" while on the move. One day our walk wandered into the washroom and he unbuttoned his pants and went towards the urinal with them trailing on the ground like a child while he takes a leak. Here I am, staring at a 50 year old man's bare white ass while a constant flow of urine evacuates his body - his voice is unperturbed and he continues on his monologue as if nothing has occured. This was about 15 years ago - I imagine if that happened today I could have claimed sexual harrassment. I think back on this often, and the sheer power that must have commanded is beyond me. A few years later he took a job as chairman at a prominent IB - my friend told me that he graduated from peeing infront of people to sending nudes of himself. An example would be he would send a photo of his new Rolex watch around his wrist and then in the reflection you'd see his dick hanging out. I'd love to share his name - maybe when he officially retires. Legend.

During a conference call with 70+ people on, a guy was taking a leak and flushed the toilet with his mic on. You can hear the entire sound of piss hitting the water, and the flush. Went on for about a minute. An MD eventually said can someone please mute their mic.

(Not my story so can't say what happened to the person)
