Best/Worst Firms for Professional Development

I'm curious as to what people think on this. Anyone have first-hand experience with a specific company? Talked to anyone who ranted/raved about a certain company?

I've been hearing good things about Capital One a lot lately (in the news, from other users, etc). On the other hand, I've heard AmEx does a damn good job of making sure their employees know what they're doing. Any insight on this?
