lovely.
agree
lovely but too expensive for my broke ass.
nice
What else are you looking at?
I have the portuguese automatic with blue strap. Hard to justify at the time of purchase, but i've had it for over a year now and still feel good about the purchase.
I just bought the 3714 Chrono-Automatic as well, great piece.
It commands respect. Beautifully crafted watches that you could drop off a 50 story building and it would hold up.
My next watch will probably be an IWC.
Either you sling crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot
I love watches and in fact collect them. I have the IWC Pilots watch and it is a rock! it is so well made and great for every day wear.......expensive but in the long run well worth it!
I blew my sign on bonus on a Patek - I love it but will still have the IWC as my everydayer!
Sign-on bonus is 10k... about ~6,500 after taxes, where did you buy a Patek for 6,500?
Elan just to comment - the watch was more expensive than 6500, I was simple saying that my full sign on contributed towards the purchase. Apparently I don't actually own it though, I am merely minding it for the next generation!
Hate to be "that guy" but in the below 3 threads Plus1 has declared the following:
Which could all very well be true, and if so, VERY impressive. However I don't see how you have 2 internships and a year of BB IBD experience when you're graduating this summer and starting at HL in July.

All true pal. I see how you may be skeptical, however here is the story - I come from a well of family with many connections. start up capital for my own business was easy, I let it run for 2 years and sold it on before going to uni to study Finance.
My finance Degree is 4 years long, and the 3rd year is spent on Industrial Placement i.e. a year in a Financial role. So the sumer after my second year I interned at GS, following this I took up a year long placement in JPM UK M&A, where I spent 9 months off cycle and then fell in with the summer intern class of 2007. After this internship I started back to my Final year at uni, where I Graduated last week.
Hence I have 2 Summer Internships and a years experience in the IBD Industry.
As for my HLHZ choice, a friend moved there into the restructuring team which was appealing seeing the UK economic at that time was starting to decline and has got even worse over the last nine months. And the way I see it - I am better to gain experience in a hot area rather than M&A where it is pretty quiet!
The Patek Phillipe I bought was much more expensive than 6500 dollars, but thats my business and I would rather not share prices.
PS I never claimed to represent the UK at any Sport - I have however played Golf for my country i.e the IRISH International Youth team.
it is of no relevance to me whether you believe me or not, I really don't care. But it is in fact all true.....Yes I have good contacts in the Industry and am in the lucky position of having a wealthy family - but that has not affected my performance nor my credibility on the job. Also I think if you saw my Resume as many employers have - both academically and EC wise I stand out! making numerous job offers very likely!!!!!
Plus1's real name: Bill Brasky.
To BILL BRASKY!!
Either you sling crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot
What's the purpose of this? Is Bill Brasky a joke B-list celebrity/movie character I don't know of hence some underlying joke here, or is it really this guy's name?
Don't expose people unless they are truly deserving, flaunting your PP probably doesn't qualify (at least in my book).

Did you SERIOUSLY just quote Patek's tagline "Apparently I don't actually own it though, I am merely minding it for the next generation!"
Jesus what a loser!
I was being sarcastic you prick! Get a sense of humour.....
Bill Brasky is a fictional SNL character whose friends discuss his superhuman awesomeness
So what do you do? -I work for an investment banking firm. Oh okay; you are like my brother, he works for Edward Jones. -No, a college degree is required in my profession

thank you, i've not watched SNL in forever.
Net worth - Great watch! Hope you enjoy it.
Yeah the two extremes make sense to me - I will wear the U Boat 50mm on nights out - casual......Patek is a shirt watch very very slimline and smart for work. :-)
Hopefully, some day I'll join the Patek ranks by owning one of their PP 5960's. Although I get disgusted with the hoarding and flipping that is going on with a number of their better looking offerings. It seems like everyone either want sa 5960, 5980, or 5070. People's styles tend to converge when you give them the opportunity to buy a timeless watch i guess. (although the 5980 is not so timeless imho)

A mothafuka of a watch
--check out www.timezone.com if you haven't already heard of it. alot of boring old guys on the site but a few good people with great tastes, I like the Lange Forum, Patek Forum, and occasionally browe the SIHH 2008 offerings pages.
Later.
I had that watch, wore it into the shower once... now its useless.
Overrated.
Great comment, very original.
Now, come up with some other stupid remark since I responded to your pitiful attempt at humor, please.
Douchebag. In real life, you would be backhanded (personally by me if i had a chance) for such a poor attempt at humor.
In real life, you should be backhanded for being such a pompous dbag. Please go play with each other's balls on another forum.
Thanks.
Awww... someone's feeling are hurt that no one gives a shit about his homo-erotic obsession with watches.
The OP was asking opinions on IWC's.... it was not an open invitation to start stroking each other's genitals.
Plus1- Your explanation seems pretty plausible. You have an IWC? Cool. You like it. Awesome. You have Patek you wear on special occasions... impressive.
Net Worth--- STFU
Its just a pathetic attempt by both of you to fondle each other's egos.
Could you be a bigger fuckin tool?
Do you put your watches in a condom before you insert them up your rectum?
Why not just meet him up at a rest stop and fellate him while he presses the watch face to your ear?
if you don't like watches, ok, great. If you do, then you understand what i'm saying and where i'm coming from.
you are the ones who place ego, being pompous, etc. into the equation.
don't understand the aggression though, when i said i would backhand you i was being sarcastic you sensitive fucks.
******another WSO thread that needs to be locked because of forum trolls*********
Getting back to the point of this thread a year later, I've been looking at watches and the Da Vinci in black struck me at first sight. Anyone have it?

Thoughts on IWC Watches? (Originally Posted: 02/28/2014)
I'm thinking about picking up a Portuguese. What do you guys think about them?
Which one?
Gotta go with the 3714. So clean. Silver hands on black dial for the office, rose gold and blue hands on white dial for impressin the ladies.
I will definitely go for one later in life once I've invested in some of the more important assets, car, apartment/house, etc.
Im gonna have to agree with the 3714, very clean
Overrated, I would go with a vintage Jaeger
IWC Portuguese is gorgeous, love that watch. Will be getting one in a few years.
Which one do you guys like?
