What to be familiar with in Excel, PP, etc

Hi All,

I'll be starting my first year with a firm in a few months and would appreciate any insight as to what specific uses within Microsoft Office (Excel, PP) are expected of your average first year. I have the opportunity to brush up on my Excel skills through the firm I currently work with and it would be ideal if I could focus on a few particular aspects.

Thanks in advance.

Go to the mrexcel.com forum and be able to solve all the problems. If you can solve the VBA, that's a plus.

-named ranges -nested ifs -vlookup -hlookup -index -match -indirect -or -and -eomonth -year, month -yearfrac -now -today -sumif -sumifs -sumproduct -countif -countifs -na -isna -isblank -iferror -not ^^^These are functions that I use on a daily basis.

Listen to hockey... everything you send out should be print friendly. Master array functions. Be able to list volatile vs non-volatile function.

Three levels to Excel (obviously varying levels within each group below): 1) working with functions 2) working with arrays 3) working with VBA

***Edit -min, max, average, linest, trend, slope, value, mid, left, right, ceiling, floor, round, char, choose... Too many more useful ones to list/think of.

I'll do what I can to help ya'll. But, the game's out there, and it's play or get played.

Great stuff. Appreciate the input. Printability is a great point. Also, very useful are the functions you use every day. Will be sure to get some practice in.
