Left BCG and looking to join McKinsey or Bain

Folks,

Had an undergrad from HYPS and joined BCG as an associate. I had to leave after 4 months for serious family issues (I've done 2 studies, top reviews and strong references from my PLs and Principals - can't take a leave). Now (~1 year after), I'd like to rejoin consulting and preferably McK or Bain.

What will be the application strategy? Is it doable ? any advices? What are your views?

EDIT: Yep good point. As I resigned before the consultant level, I can't go back

Thanks!!

First... Why are you trying to leave BCG? Even if it was for familial reasons, it looks odd to jump from one MBB to another after just 4 months. Also, since you've already had experience yet haven't completed the associate program, McKinsey or Bain would definitely have to start you from scratch but probably wouldn't bother to be frank. Is there no way for you to finish out the associate BCG program then try to lateral as a consultant?

EDIT

Ok, wasn't aware that was the case. Since you don't have access to OCR that adds another layer of difficulty. If you know any senior people from McKinsey or Bain I would reach out to them and let them know your situation. Otherwise try and reach out to the folks from BCG that you have rapport with and see if they can hook you up with some industry contacts or if they know seniors from the other firms. Its a bit of an odd situation but it's doable. Might have to get a grad degree and reset, but it is doable. Best of luck.
